Shea Butter Museum
Shea Butter Museum: The Heart of African Heritage and Beauty
Nestled in the heart of Ghana, the center of the world, the Hamamat Shea Butter Museum is a living celebration of African tradition, culture, and craftsmanship.
First opened during Ghana’s historic Year of Return in 2019, the museum has since welcomed and inspired thousands of visitors from across the globe. As the first and only Shea Butter Museum in the world, we are proud to showcase the rich legacy of shea butter-making, a sacred practice passed down through generations in Africa.
Our newly opened museum in Accra brings together 21 unique types of shea butter, carefully sourced from every corner of Africa. This remarkable collection reflects the diversity and unity of the continent, making it a one-of-a-kind destination for anyone looking to reconnect with the roots of natural beauty. Every visit is an immersive journey into the artistry of shea butter production, where visitors can experience the entire process—from handpicking the shea nuts to crafting fresh, handmade shea butter using traditional methods.
More than a museum, this is a space where Africa comes alive. With captivating videos, vibrant images, and hands-on experiences, the Shea Butter Museum invites you to rediscover the essence of African beauty and connect with the warmth of the Village.
At Hamamat, we’ve not only set the standard for shea butter worldwide but have also created a sanctuary that bridges the diaspora and celebrates Africa’s treasures. Come, learn, and take a piece of Africa home with you.
